So very true, June!

But I really enjoyed seeing the old vehicles, clothing etc etc too in the video.

So sad for sure. But It is lovely to see how elegantly the ladies were dressed, and so smart the men too.
So much they all had to contend with, yet there they are making the most of everything.

That old but lovely term came to mind, "Keep the stiff upper lip", Tan.

That to me was very moving Mara. My uncle was killed in that war and my father was a boy soldier but he did at least come home in one piece. Excuse the state of the photo but it was rescued from the first home we had bombed in the Second World War. The stone was put up in in remembrance as you can see his name Thomas Huddy is engraved on it.

War stole (steals) so many young lives and what a very precious keepsake to have, our Maisie.

I'm glad you found the thread and enjoyed seeing the old video ... I've always enjoyed seeing history, too.

Another wonderful find Mara, such a sad time but these images show so much more than sadness. Roy and I loved to go to an event called "The Bunker Bash". It was an event held every year for those of a military mind to show their vehicles and equipment from all wars. It was always a moving event for both of us, but the best one I have been to. I took this picture there, and after a little work on it, I produced this, and the Bunker Bash crew still show this on their website. Thank you for sharing this.

Thanks so very much for adding this touching picture, Leon ... and yes, I remember how Roy loved going with you to the annual 'Bunker Bash', too!

The picture of your uncle Maisie, if you wish, we can repair it to some extent, at least get rid of some of the creases.
If you would like us to do so, can you please scan it on its own, and if your scanner will do it, enlarge it to at around 600 wide so we have more to work on.
