My favourite Ford Escort, review by autocar .co. uk This one is an L reg mine was the K reg no wood panels on the dash that is from the Ford Escort 1300 Sport, true Mex's or RS 1600 all had mat black dash.

Last night I watch the National Geographic TV show SOS Escort Mexico, I cried, thinking of my K reg Mex going off to North Wales with a farmer for true rallying then my P reg one went when the family got and extra person, son Jonathan then Claire. Had to get and estate.

My K reg Mex was painted Maize Yellow not the best choice but my P reg was Daytona Yellow much better. This was the shell I got from Cheshire, then I transferred the mechanicals of the K reg into the P reg after I had cleared all the dirt & rust off the suspension parts & other small brackets then sprayed them with Airforce blue polly paint or in the case of the exhaust heat resistant Ally Vulcan exhaust paint. As I had recaro rally seats from new they stayed with my new P reg Escort Mexico. I wish that I had a good camera in those days.

If you can watch the National Geographic TV channel keep an eye out for the: http://natgeotv.com/uk/car-sos

This a video of the Leicestershire garage owner Rodger Clark winning the RAC UK rally of 1972 in an Escort RS 1800. Jen an I was marshalling at Sutton Park and on our way back from that duty we found
Stig Blomqvist's Saab 96 parked on a park bench, true.  Later that year on my travels on the A46 I stopped at a garage for petrol in my Mex and Roger Clark him self filled my tank and chatted about rallying and of his great win.

Escorts are dancing on ice with a Fiesta and skiers/onlookers close by in the danger area. Even the music is good.

Yes Nordog I did enjoy the GP. My son-in-law did some design work for the Marussia for the new car.
The Rally video are very interesting. My second car was a very quick Hillman Imp and that is the one that is special to me.

Did have one of the early ones with the engine head problems or was the heat sorted by the time you got yours, I liked the little Imp they use them against the Mini on rally cross if I remember rightly.

Isn't it lovely how often one car in particular sticks in our memory as our favourite, Nordog - and it was fun to see your favourite.

We have slightly different cars over here - for instance, our Ford Escorts don't look like those in Britain ... but again, thanks for sharing your memories of your favourite car.

I would to see your Escorts Mara, & perhaps some racing with both versions. I have a nephew in design work he did the door catch for the Landrover a few years ago Peter.  What part of the race car did he work on Peter.
