Nice one, thanks Condor I had seen the video on that program before and of course seen these hubs on normal bikes but forgot this video was for Uni's.
My God son Christopher was testing the then new Shimano hubs for mountain bikes for the cycle shop was working for, on our night rides he wrecked three of them. Now if only they made them with electric shifts, that would be great for when I get old.

Does Ed's unicycle have this "gearing system on the wheel", I wonder?

It's sure fascinating how they create them/clutch - really enjoyed watching this video - thank you, Condor.

No, Ed has direct (simple) drive. In fact yesterday he (I!!) fitted new shorter crank arms. This raises the gear but is better to ride he says. The axle connection is the ISIS type.

Hubs are okay if they are simple. The problem with some bikes is that they're getting too technical. At one time most cyclists could repair and service their own bikes. Now they have problems with (say) a puncture!  Very Happy

Aah, yes ... sort of like new cars, I guess.  The fancy bikes must take part of the joy of bike ownership away ... thank goodness there's people like you that can do repairs, Condor!

I steer clear of hydraulic brakes.  The rest is light engineering!
