Hard to imagne the vast amount of troops coming in there and all the tanks too.
Seems all the plans fell well into place.
10,000 bombs and shells from 600 warships, that alone is amazing to think of.

Yes it was a nail biting and stressful time Tan.

When it was coming up to the 60th anniversary of D-Day there was NO offer from the government to help out with the fares for those veterans left who wanted to go out to pay their respects to their fallen comrades.

This got my back up and I wrote to my member of parliament to say that they were shipped out there free of charge to fight for their country sixty years previous and in my view the government ought to help with with transport and with any fare money.

I had the following letter from him.

Very well done to you our Maisie for writing to your MP with how you felt, as sure many did too, but you put your pen to paper, not just thought about it. :clap10:
So pleased to know Andy Reed took it further, writing on your behalf, and having the good grace to forward that to you as well.

Yes he gained my respect for that Tan.

Makes a change to have a letter acknowledged.

It certainly does our Maisie, and another good part was he left the door open, so to speak, with you knowing you could keep in touch when ever you felt the need to write anything else.

Yes that was one reason WHY he gained my respect Tan.

I am going out for an hour or so in a bit to see my 90 year old friend. I believe I put some of her lovely Christmas trees on here for all to see. She is a smashing person and can always see the funny side of life.

I will call in later.
